On Monday 9th of February, staff from fabrik’s three offices descended on central London for a day of Continuing Professional Development. When working on a diverse range of rural and urban scheme’s across the country, it’s important to dedicate time to sharing knowledge.
The day started with a presentation from Cath Birkin and Paul French on fabrik’s Goodman’s fields project, a 7 acre mixed-use development in the heart of the city. The project team shared insights on the detailed design and construction of the scheme, including all the technicalities of podium design. This time also served as a forum to discuss the challenges and resolutions of working on such a complex project.
Then on to a site-visit of the completed first phase of the scheme, Garden Square, showing how the application of our technical knowledge lead to a successful and elegant space.
After three miles of walking (14,744 steps!) and a few wrong turns… staff sat down for a well deserved lunch before heading across to The Building Centre and the “Rethinking the Urban Landscape” exhibition which is showcasing a variety of exceptional international projects - including fabrik's own Kidbrooke Village.
After taking inspiration from the imagery, models and films on show at The Building Centre, staff returned to the office refreshed and enlightened on Tuesday.
