smith's dock smokehouses approved
29 February 2016
This significant residential-led waterside scheme redevelops the former Smith’s Dock in North Shields, Tyneside. 30 acres of derelict dock yard will be transformed into a vibrant new waterside community of over 800 new homes and public realm.
Smokehouses, the second phase of development, was granted planning consent at the start of 2016. The scheme consists of two buildings, incorporating 80 new waterside apartments. The surrounding public realm includes new outdoor café seating areas and social spaces which will enjoy views out across the River Tyne and the historic dockside. This forms the first element of a pedestrian and cycle promenade that will eventually run the length of the site along the waterside, promoting connections to the Royal Quays Marina and Fish Quay.
