treloar's design charette
06 November 2013
Staff gathered expectantly in fabrik’s London studio today to develop landscape masterplan ideas to guide the future development and enhancement of Treloar School and College, the practice’s charity for this year.
A sketch morning was organised by Charlie Peck, Tim Bray and Laura Mackie to utilise the full extent of fabrik’s creative pool and specialist expertise within the education sector. Teams were formed to explore imaginative experiential learning, play and therapy opportunities within key site character areas. Proposals were drawn from a series of engagement workshops which captured student’s special educational needs, hopes and aspirations for their surroundings.
Kieran’s Connecting Spaces Team developed ideas to playfully link the campus.
Mike’s School Square Team worked up ideas for the main central spaces, and created models of wheelchair washes and ramps.
Laura’s External Living Spaces Team looked at the small interstitial areas around the site.
Victoria’s Sensory Garden Team developed sketches for trails through the swales and woodland edge spaces.
Tim’s External Classroom Team presented proposals for outdoor experiential learning.
Rolls of canary paper, pots of Play-Doh and boxes of crayons later, fantastic ideas were shared through a series of presentations. Check out some of the best designs...
