one blackfriars, london
The distinctive form of the 50-storey One Blackfriars tower will create an elegant new landmark to London's skyline. The residential tower rises from a single urban block as part of a cluster of mixed-use buildings. The buildings’ organic forms and footprints create generous streetscapes and permeable routes with ample opportunity for the hotel lobby, retail and cafe uses to animate the development.
A tranquil urban plaza is set to the heart of the scheme, enclosed by the buildings to form a calm oasis away from the congested neighbouring roads. Sculpture, planting, reflective water tables and the soothing sound of gently running water combine to form an inviting landscape where people can sit to relax. The space is overlooked by a resident’s roof garden and hotel terrace.
